Founded by Tami Sakuma and Susan Berentson in 2010, the growing business offers hand-crafted artisan bakery treats teamed witht the freshest berries for the Skagit Valley.

Tami spent more than 30 years with Sakuma Farms managing their market stand and harvest crews. Susan also worked at Sakumas, while starting her own bakery 10 years ago. The bakery was later brought in-house at Sakumas, before Tami and Susan made the decision to go on their own with "From the Farm."

Each morning at the crack of dawn, Tami heads to the fields to select the freshest berries available, and Susan cranks up the kitchen to get ready for a busy day. By 9 a.m., warm bakery treats and fresh berries are ready for sale at their market stand. Than the Ice Cream Shop gets ready to offer their famous fresh berry shakes, sundaes and shortcake.

Word has gotten out, and now their signature shortcake is available throughout the Pacific Northwest in supermarkets and fruits stand from Puyallup to Idaho.

From the Farm has played a role in other successful start-up valued added food businesses. Working with the Port of Skagit County to establish their 3,000 sq ft commercial kitchen, they've provided facilities for a successful local honey company, barbeque, gluten free and several other endeavors.

In 2012 Berentson and Sakuma were honored as runner-up for "Start Up Business of the Year" by Northwest Business Magazine.
